Great Outdoors Colorado applications for Local Parks and Outdoor Recreation Grants, Mini-Grants and Planning Grants are now available and are due on August 22, 2008. The GOCO Board decides grant awards on December 16, 2008. Grant awards assist local governments, land trusts, state agencies, and park and recreation special districts in acquiring, expanding, and/or enhancing parks, open space, outdoor recreation and environmental education facilities.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WORKSHOPS
Local Government staff will hold nine technical assistance workshops to discuss grant applications and offer assistance on project selection and grant preparation for Local Government projects. All workshops are open to the public. GOCO Staff strongly encourages workshop attendance.

NOTE 1: In response to overwhelming support from GOCO stakeholders, the Fall Open Space Grant cycle began earlier this year with applications available on May 1, 2008, due on July 1, 2008, and awards to be made on October 3, 2008. NOTE 2: The GOCO Board has authority to bond for large-scale, urgent land acquisition projects. It is willing to receive concept papers for large projects that may require the use of bonding at any time.
