GOCO AWARDS $8 MILLION IN LOTTERY GRANTS

(Denver) -- The Great Outdoors Colorado Board has approved a $100 million spending plan – the largest in its history – for Fiscal Year 2008 to, in part, address urgent open space protection needs in the state.

FIRST STATEWIDE OPEN SPACE INVENTORY RELEASED:

- Colorado's first statewide inventory of open space has been released by the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Board and the Natural Resource Ecology Lab (NREL) at Colorado State University that conducted the study on behalf of Lottery-funded GOCO. The inventory provides consistent, current, and comprehensive information about the status and trends of open space lands in the state and detailed maps with a comprehensive set of attributes associated with each parcel.

Larimer County Parks and Open Lands Acquisition of Hermit Park Passes Important Landmark

- Today the Larimer County Parks and Open Lands Department, with partners the Estes Valley Land Trust and the Town of Estes, acquired the Hermit Park property from Agilent Technologies.

GREAT OUTDOORS COLORADO AWARDS $8.3 MILLION IN LOTTERY FUNDS FOR 6,000 ACRES AND 27 RECREATION PROJECTS

- The Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Board has awarded its final grants for 2006 with $8.3 million being invested in 45 projects across Colorado that will protect 6,000 acres of prime open space, improve outdoor recreation opportunities in 27 counties and provide funds to plan for future projects.
