Jake Houston

Local Government Program Manager

Originally from the Volunteer State, Jake came to Colorado after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in recreation administration. He served as an intern with the Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation District before moving on to manage youth sports for the Adams County YMCA. Jake now oversees GOCO’s Local Government program and has been with GOCO since 2010.

Jake led the coordinated stakeholder outreach for GOCO’s Connect Initiative grant program and assisted DNR with “16 in 2016” stakeholder engagement, project vetting, and trail selection. Jake works with DNR to provide updates and information regarding each of the 16 in 16 projects in hopes of determining the barriers that exist with each project and how to address them in order to move forward.

He is also a member of the Colorado the Beautiful trail mapping advisory committee and serves as the GOCO liaison to the Clear Creek Greenway Advisory Committee, Rocky Mountain Greenway Advisory Committees, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife State Trails program. Contact Jake with questions about the Connect Initiative, trail planning grants, and the local government grant program.
