Christy joined the GOCO team in July 2021 as the controller.

What did you do before you came to GOCO?

My career in accounting for Colorado local governments started when I was working my way through college. My first job was with Adams County Social Services, and I have since spent my career working with or for local governments here in Colorado. I love seeing how our governments make things tick within their communities, from providing safe drinking water to maintaining beautiful parks and outdoor spaces for all to enjoy.

What brought you to GOCO? Christy Reeves

I previously worked for GOCO as the staff accountant, so it has always had a special place in my heart. I did not hesitate when I had the opportunity to return, and I am so happy to be a part of something so impactful to the state of Colorado.

What has been your favorite part of working here so far?

The people I get to work with! We have an amazing team. The passion they have for GOCO and Colorado’s great outdoors is contagious and energizing.

What is your typical day like?

Sadly, my typical day is spent in front of a computer making sure we keep things running around here (someone has to pay the bills). However, I do get to enjoy collaborating with the GOCO staff and board to provide them with the information and support they need to succeed in keeping Colorado beautiful.

What are some of your favorite things to do outdoors?

I enjoy hiking, skiing, paddle boarding, and biking, especially when I get to do it with my friends and family.

Where is your favorite place to get outdoors in Colorado?

I have recently been enjoying paddleboarding at Gross Reservoir in Boulder County and hiking in Eldorado Canyon State Park. I’m lucky, both are gorgeous and close to home.

What is your most memorable outdoors mishap?

A few years ago, I thought I would take up mountain biking, so I signed up for a class at North Table Mountain. I was having a blast until I decided to wrap myself around the bike learning to manage switchbacks. I was barely moving but wound up with a sprained ankle and a damaged bike. I had to limp my sore body and bike down the mountain while the class continued. I will never look at a switchback the same!

What is the coolest wildlife you have spotted while outdoors in Colorado?

I saw a moose on a drive through Coal Creek Canyon on my way to Eldora. Moose sightings in Colorado are rare, so I feel pretty lucky when I see one!
