Leah Kahler-Read joined GOCO in 2022. As Senior Grants Officer, she facilitates administrative grant requirements for grantees and is always looking for chances to identify process improvements.

 

She grew up in rural Montana near Glacier National Park, where she was always encouraged to “play outside” and developed a connection with nature. Moving to Europe with her family for high school and staying for an undergraduate degree in Fashion Design & Marketing led her to a career in fashion in New York City. She soon discovered the environmental impact of that industry and pursued a graduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania to focus on sustainable development. This propelled her into a decade of nonprofit development and operations in the conservation world. 

 

Leah maintains her habit of exploring the planet with her husband whenever possible, especially to Europe, where her family still lives. But it's always sad to be away from her fluffy Siberian cat, Slinky. Since 2015, she has enjoyed Colorado’s year-round opportunities for solo hiking, snowshoeing, and camping, while always hoping to spot any wildlife. She prioritizes health and wellness through yoga, meditation, and alternative medicine therapies.
