Flood Recovery

To help communities restore parks, trails and open spaces that were damaged or destroyed in the September 2013 floods caused by torrential rainfall, GOCO offered up to $5 million in emergency grant funds. Communities in the 11 counties declared federal disaster areas following the September 2013 flooding (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Clear Creek, El Paso, Fremont, Jefferson, Larimer, Logan, Morgan and Weld) were eligible to apply for the special GOCO grants.

The GOCO board awarded grants in April 2014  for 14 flood recovery projects in Boulder, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, Morgan and Weld counties. All but three of the projects used youth corps or volunteers. Grantees leveraged GOCO funds for an additional $13.5 million in matching and other funds for a total investment of nearly $19 million.
